The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has issued a strong warning to the public over a fraudulent press release making the rounds on social media and messaging platforms. The false message claims that a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for NCS recruitment is scheduled to take place in July 2025.

In an official press statement, the NCS clarified that the release is entirely fake and did not come from the Service. “The NCS wishes to categorically state that the said press release is fraudulent, misleading, and did not emanate from the Nigeria Customs Service,” the statement said.

The Service explained that a closer look at the fake document reveals several red flags. “The e-signature format differs from our official standard,” the statement noted, adding that the recruitment timeline listed shows a structure not linked to any real process.

These inconsistencies highlight how cyber fraudsters continue to spread misinformation in a bid to exploit the public.

This incident comes at a time when many young Nigerians are actively seeking federal government jobs, especially those offered by high-profile agencies like the Nigeria Customs Service.

The NCS acknowledged this high interest and urged citizens not to fall for such misleading recruitment news. “We urge the public not to engage with, share, or act upon such unverified content,” the NCS warned.

For those interested in legitimate job opportunities with the NCS, the agency stressed that all valid updates regarding recruitment will only be shared via its official website, verified social media handles, and national newspapers. This helps ensure job seekers avoid falling victim to scams while pursuing government employment.

The Service also assured Nigerians that it is investigating the origin of the false message. “The Service is taking steps to trace the origin of this false information and will take appropriate action to hold those responsible accountable,” it stated.
