In support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes education, health, and social investment, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is pushing forward with efforts to embed digital literacy into Nigeria’s education system.
The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, paid a strategic visit to the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Hajiya Aisha Garba. During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving digital literacy at the foundational level of education.
“This collaboration is a major step towards ensuring that every Nigerian child, especially at the basic education level, gains access to digital tools and skills necessary for the future,” Abdullahi said.
The visit is part of NITDA’s broader strategy of engaging key education bodies, including the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).
A joint committee has now been established to plan the implementation phase of this initiative. The goal is to equip young Nigerians with essential digital skills to thrive in a tech-driven global economy.
