Plateau State Government has intensified efforts to empower young people with practical wealth creation and financial management skills through a new youth-focused initiative organised by the Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMIDA) in partnership with the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN).
The one-day empowerment programme, held on May 12, 2026, at GSS Mangu-Halle in Mangu LGA, brought together youths from different communities under the theme, “Wealth Before Noon: A Financial Reawakening.”
The initiative focused on equipping participants with financial literacy, savings culture, entrepreneurship knowledge, investment orientation and personal discipline needed to build sustainable wealth at an early stage of life.
Speaking during the programme, PLASMIDA’s Director of Administration and Finance, Mr. Jackse Le’an Mangtat, urged participants to take financial planning seriously and avoid delaying important decisions that could shape their future.
He said young people must understand that wealth creation starts with discipline, consistency and the willingness to learn profitable skills.
“The morning of life is the best time to plant the seeds of prosperity. Financial freedom does not happen by accident. Young people must intentionally prepare themselves for opportunities,” he said.
According to the organisers, the programme was designed to expose participants to practical strategies for economic growth while encouraging them to embrace entrepreneurship and self-development.
Participants also received guidance on savings strategies, modern wealth creation methods and how to develop a productive mindset capable of driving long-term financial independence.
PLASMIDA said the “Wealth Before Noon” initiative aligns with the youth empowerment and grassroots development agenda of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, whose administration continues to promote human capital development across the state.
The agency added that empowering young people financially would help strengthen communities, reduce economic hardship and create a more productive future for Plateau State.
