Applications are now open for the RegTech Hackathon at Microsoft AI Skills Week 2026, offering Nigerian innovators, developers, and problem-solvers an opportunity to design AI-powered regulatory technology solutions aimed at transforming Nigeria’s compliance and governance systems.
The hackathon is designed to bring together teams with bold ideas capable of addressing real-world regulatory challenges through technology. Participants will compete for a grand prize of $1,000 while gaining access to mentorship, training, and national-level exposure during the summit in Abuja.
The programme seeks innovative solutions that can improve Nigeria’s regulatory future by bridging what organisers describe as a growing “solutions gap” in compliance systems.
About the RegTech Hackathon
The RegTech Hackathon focuses on building intelligent tools that make compliance smarter, faster, and more efficient. Teams are expected to create solutions that apply emerging technologies such as:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning
- Data Analytics
- Blockchain
- API Integrations
Proposed projects may include tools that strengthen compliance monitoring, simplify reporting processes, improve regulatory intelligence, and enhance governance systems across sectors.
Whether applicants have only an idea, a working prototype, or an already deployed solution, all stages of innovation are welcome.
Participation Requirements
To be eligible:
- Each team must consist of a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5 members
- Only one representative per team should complete the application form
- Teams must submit one viable innovation idea, prototype, or existing solution
Programme Timeline
Shortlisted teams will participate in a structured programme leading to the final pitch event:
- Application Deadline: 16 April 2026
- Onboarding Session: 17 April 2026
- Mentorship and Training in Abuja: 20–21 April 2026
- Final Presentation at AI Skills Week Summit: 22 April 2026
The onboarding session is mandatory for shortlisted applicants and will provide key insights ahead of the physical event in Abuja.
