The Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme has launched a new pilot initiative called “Snacks for Thought” in Kano State, Nigeria. The PBAT FEEDS project aims to promote child nutrition and learning through nutritious snack distribution in public primary schools.
According to officials, the initiative began this week and is currently being implemented in selected schools including Magwan Science & Technical Model Primary School, Ganduje Nomadic Primary School in Dawakin Tofa, Kofar Nassarawa Special Primary School, Kofar Nassarawa Model Primary School, and Sumaila Special Primary School.
A representative of the programme described the initiative as “a crucial step towards improving pupils’ health and supporting inclusive education.” The government highlighted that this pilot would provide a model for sustainable school feeding systems in Nigeria, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda. The “Snacks for Thought” project also aims to empower local farmers and vendors by sourcing locally made nutritious snacks.
