The Senator Sunday Steve Karimi Education Foundation announced that it has received over 10,000 applications for its N300 million Bursary Award 2025. The announcement was made on Friday in Lokoja by the Central Committee Secretary, Tosin Busuyi.
He explained that the bursary programme is designed to support Kogi State students studying in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria. According to him, the initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of tuition fees while promoting access to higher education.
“The programme is structured to ensure a credible, fair, and transparent selection process for successful applicants,” Mr Busuyi said. He added that the bursary scheme is facilitated through Senator Karimi’s Education Foundation, reaffirming its focus on the welfare of students.
Each selected student will receive N100,000 to cover a year’s tuition. A total of 3,000 students will benefit, with 1,000 from Kogi East, 610 from Central, and 1,390 from West senatorial districts. Mr Busuyi stated, “The foundation is committed to supporting students in their academic pursuits by offering direct financial assistance.”
He also urged eligible students who have not applied to complete their registration before the deadline of August 31. Students with minor registration issues were advised to resolve them early to avoid missing out.
The secretary recalled that in 2024, Senator Karimi disbursed N100 million to 1,000 students, noting that the 2025 bursary marks a significant expansion. The education fund is positioned as one of the largest student support initiatives in Kogi State.
