The Tertiary Education Trust Fund Executive Secretary, Arch. Sonny Echono, has said that the Nigerian government is now focused on helping students gain skills that will allow them create jobs instead of only searching for employment. He made this known when he received the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students in his office in Abuja.

Echono explained that the present administration wants students to become globally competitive, noting that the goal is for graduates to leave school with the ability to create opportunities for themselves and others. He said, “Mr President is very grateful for the massive support he received from the youths. We encourage you to continue. We will continue to implement programmes that will help you, empower you and help you become effective leaders. Mr President is already leading the way by appointing youths into his cabinet.”

He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to safer learning environments and stated that support for the Safe School Initiative will continue.
