The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has opened registration for its 2026 Post-UTME Screening Exercise, inviting candidates who selected the institution as their first-choice university in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored at least 160 to apply.
The registration exercise commenced on May 15, 2026, and will close on May 29, 2026. Eligible candidates are required to complete the process online through the university’s portal.
According to the university, applicants must first log in using their UTME registration number to confirm their pre-loaded details before generating a Remita code for payment. Candidates are expected to pay a non-refundable screening fee of N2,000 through the Remita platform using an ATM card or at any bank that supports Remita transactions.
After payment, applicants are required to obtain a Remita receipt containing an access code, which will be used to confirm payment and complete the online registration process. Candidates must submit the completed form and print their registration slip for the screening exercise.
UNIPORT stated that the schedule and further details of the screening exercise will be announced later, advising candidates to regularly check the university’s website for updates.
The institution also warned that candidates who fail to register within the stipulated period will not be eligible to participate in the screening exercise.
As part of the admission requirements, candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2026. The university also advised applicants to ensure their O’Level results are uploaded to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), noting that candidates without uploaded results may not be considered for admission.
The university further clarified that registration is entirely online and does not require candidates to be physically present on campus. Candidates who initially selected UNIPORT as a second-choice institution can only participate in the screening exercise after changing the university to their first choice through JAMB.
Applicants are also required to register using their personal GSM numbers and valid email addresses to ensure smooth communication throughout the admission process.
UNIPORT added that mobile phones, tablets, music players and other unauthorized materials will not be allowed at screening venues when the exercise is eventually scheduled. Candidates who fail to report to their designated venues at the approved time risk disqualification.
The university also stated that parents, guardians and unauthorized security personnel will not be allowed into the campus during the screening exercise.
The announcement was signed by the Registrar of the University of Port Harcourt, Mrs. Gloria O. Chindah.
