The Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme has issued a fresh update on Cohort III applications, creating uncertainty amid reports that registration is already open for the ₦30,000 monthly stipend.
A meeting update dated Friday, November 6, involving the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and centre managers stated that Cohort III applications had not yet officially opened. It said the confirmed commencement date would be announced.
However, the official TVET portal is online and recent reports have advertised Batch C registration, with applicants directed to create accounts and submit their details. The portal’s information page also describes the programme’s free training and monthly stipend.
The conflicting information has left prospective applicants uncertain about whether the registration process visible online is the confirmed Cohort III application window or only an active portal facility.
The meeting update also stated that training centres would be allowed to unregister inactive or unserious trainees when Cohort III recruitment begins. The rule would apply during the first two months after recruitment.
Trainees and centres were advised to use the support ticket system on their dashboards to report serious complaints, technical problems and payment-related issues.
Applicants should distinguish between being able to access the portal and receiving official confirmation that Cohort III recruitment has commenced. Registration does not guarantee selection or stipend payment.
How to apply
The official portal is https://www.tvet.education.gov.ng/. Prospective applicants can check the registration page and any official notices before submitting information. The programme update says the Cohort III commencement date will be announced. Applicants should avoid paying agents and rely on notices from the Federal Ministry of Education and the official portal.
