The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has set a new record in innovation and research management with the launch of the ITMO CHATBOT, a digitized intellectual property resource and patent registry, described as the first of its kind in any Nigerian tertiary institution.
The platform, accessible via itmobot.unilag.edu.ng, allows staff and students to easily access intellectual property resources, complete IP forms, and stay informed about innovation hubs and the university’s patent registry. According to the institution, the initiative will simplify how intellectual property is managed and utilized across the university community.
Developed by the Innovation and Technology Management Office (ITMO) under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), the chatbot is designed to enhance research management, digital innovation, and technology commercialization.
Supported by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) through the Technology Transform Grant Team, the ITMO CHATBOT highlights UNILAG’s commitment to promoting an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship. With this launch, UNILAG reaffirms its position as a leader in digital transformation and technology management in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
