The Katsina State Government has approved the procurement of 2025 resettlement packages for 1,662 graduates of the Katsina Youth Craft Village as part of efforts to deepen youth empowerment and promote self-reliance across the state.

The approval was granted during the 6th Regular Executive Council Meeting held at the Red Chamber, General Muhammadu Buhari House in Katsina State, and presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango, said the decision reflects the administration’s commitment to delivering measurable development outcomes under its “Building Your Future” agenda.

He noted that the initiative is designed to equip trained youths with the necessary tools and resources required to transition from training into productive economic activities.

Providing further details, the Commissioner for Higher Technical and Vocational Education, Sani JB Daura, explained that the beneficiaries were drawn from the three senatorial zones of Katsina, Daura, and Malumfashi.

According to him, the resettlement packages consist of starter kits aligned with the skills acquired by the graduates during their training at the Katsina Youth Craft Village.

“This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to empowering youths through skills acquisition and the provision of starter packs to enable them become self-reliant and reduce youth restiveness,” Daura said.

He added that the programme is expected to significantly reduce unemployment among young people by enabling beneficiaries to establish small-scale enterprises and contribute to local economic development.

Findings indicate that many graduates of vocational and technical institutions often face challenges in accessing start-up capital and essential tools needed to practise their trades after completing training.

The state government’s intervention is therefore aimed at bridging this gap by providing direct support that enables immediate entry into the workforce or entrepreneurship.

Observers have noted that such targeted interventions could help curb youth unemployment, reduce social vices, and stimulate grassroots economic activities across communities.

The government maintained that the distribution process would be carried out transparently, with measures in place to ensure that only verified graduates benefit from the programme.

The initiative forms part of a broader strategy by the Radda administration to strengthen human capital development, enhance productivity, and build a more inclusive and economically resilient Katsina State.
