There is an ongoing claim that the Federal Government, in partnership with the World Bank, has opened applications for the Nigeria Family Strengthening and Development Programme (NFSP), offering a ₦100,000 monthly cash transfer. However, the said programme is a scam and is not associated with the Federal Government.
The website, nfsp.ng, describes NFSP as a grassroots empowerment initiative under Renewed Hope of President Bola Tinubu. It claims the programme will protect 80 per cent of the population. It advertises ₦100,000 monthly grants, skills training and agricultural support.
But the government announcement the scammer uses does not announce any monthly payments of ₦100,000 or authorise nfsp.ng to collect applications from Nigerians. The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation reported in May 2025 that the Minister of Women Affairs had announced the National Family Strengthening and Development Programme. That announcement has nothing to do with this fake cash-transfer programme.
In fact, the only cash transfer programme currently carried out by the federal government is the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), which pays ₦75,000 in three tranches to Nigerian households.
The nfsp website claims a partnership with the World Bank, but there is no official confirmation because it is a scam. The scammer is using Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) and other government bodies to obtain money from the public by pretending to collect National Identification Number (NIN) verification payments.
Applicants are being told to pay NIN application fee before proceeding for approval. The National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) has warned about fake cash-transfer portals and says beneficiaries do not pay to receive benefits through its programme.
The Instagram account @nfspnigeria directs users to nfsp.ng and uses the email help@nfsp.ng. It has promoted the offer through videos urging Nigerians to register.
