The Dangote Leadership Development Programme (DLDP) marked a significant milestone in 2025 with the graduation of its pioneer participants. The initiative is aimed at empowering the next generation of leaders with the mindset, skills, and behaviors needed to thrive in today’s competitive business environment.
Speaking at the event, Aliko Dangote congratulated the graduates, stating, “I heartily congratulate the pioneer graduates as they are now equipped with the mindset, skills and behaviors required to lead effectively in a dynamic and competitive environment.”
Gloria Byamugisha, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Dangote Cement PLC, explained that the programme was designed to develop new leaders across Dangote Industries Limited. “This cuts across several business units. It also cuts across different geographies,” she said.
Bolanle Adekoya, Partner at PwC, described leadership as the driving force of any business. “Leadership is the engine room in driving a business. Today it was good to see all the participants and the joy to celebrate the journey that they have all been,” she noted.
Dr. James Adenuga, Group Chief of HSSE & Sustainability at Dangote Industries, highlighted the programme’s value. “The Dangote Leadership Development Program is such a value addition to the dynamics of breeding leadership. Developing leaders, packaging them, and empowering them has a benefit not just for the business but benefits to themselves,” he said.
Nglan Niat, Group Chief Human Resources Officer at Dangote Industries, praised the Blue Ammonia project team. “They did such an amazing job. It showed through all the skills that they learned, it really transpired through their presentation. So thank you and thanks to the entire team, the HR team and everyone who helped put this together,” she said.
Participants also shared their experiences. One participant said, “This program has really helped me personally to be more interdependent. People first, then perfect come.” Another described it as a life-changing opportunity, saying, “The Dangote leadership development program is a transformative program. It transforms your life the moment you come into the program.”
One participant noted, “I can’t even mention in words what I have benefited from this program, and to me it’s a must-have.” Another called it one of a kind, possibly the first in Africa, stating, “It shows you who you are, who you can be, and what you should be.”
