The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB), has opened applications for a free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme targeted at youths and interested individuals across Ogun State.

The initiative, which will run for six months, is designed to promote skills acquisition, reduce unemployment, and empower participants with practical, industry-relevant knowledge.

Speaking on the programme, the Acting Executive Secretary of OGSTVEB, Mojisola Adenowo, stated that the training would equip beneficiaries with hands-on skills across multiple technical fields, enhancing their chances of employment and self-reliance.

She explained that participants would receive intensive training delivered by experienced instructors using modern techniques. The programme will also expose trainees to real-world applications, positioning them for opportunities within Nigeria’s growing technical workforce.

According to Adenowo, the training will cover a broad range of vocational areas, including:

  • Construction-related trades
  • Mechanical works
  • Other practical, hands-on technical skills

She emphasised that all courses available within the state’s technical education system would be offered completely free of charge.

“The programme will run for six months, with participants undergoing intensive hands-on training across various vocational fields. All trades will be offered at no cost,” she said.

Registration is currently ongoing and will be conducted online. Notably, applicants are not required to submit any documents, making the process simple and accessible to a wider audience.

At the end of the programme, participants will undergo a formal assessment. Attendance is mandatory, as only those who complete the training fully will qualify for certification.

Successful candidates will be awarded the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Certificate under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), a nationally recognised credential that validates vocational competence.
