The Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD), in partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), will launch the Youth in Agribusiness Land Trust Fund (YiALTF), a new initiative designed to improve young Nigerians’ access to land for agribusiness.
The programme seeks to address one of the biggest challenges facing young people who want to enter agriculture — access to land. Limited access to farmland has long restricted youth participation in agricultural production, agribusiness development, and value addition across the country.
According to the organisers, the Youth in Agribusiness Land Trust Fund is intended to create opportunities for young Nigerians to gain access to land and build sustainable agribusiness ventures. The initiative is also expected to support food security, stimulate job creation, improve livelihoods, and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
The launch reflects ongoing efforts to encourage greater youth participation in agriculture by removing structural barriers that have prevented many young entrepreneurs from entering the sector.
In an invitation announcing the event, the organisers said: “The YiALTF is designed to provide a platform for the youth to get involved in agribusiness to improve their livelihoods and contribute to food security, job creation, and the nation’s economic growth.”
The national launch of the Youth in Agribusiness Land Trust Fund is scheduled to hold on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Abuja. Interested participants can join the event virtually through: www.shorturl.at/CjRrn.
