Nigerians checking their eligibility for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief grant under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) have shared a new message confirming that their National Identification Number (NIN) was already verified.

A screenshot circulating on Facebook shows an MTN NG message stating: “Your NIN was already confirmed. You’d be receiving your funds shortly.”
The message appeared after the user dialled a payment code, according to the post. It has attracted attention among Nigerians checking whether they qualify.
However, the screenshot does not confirm that the recipient has been selected or paid. It also does not prove that everyone receiving a similar NIN confirmation will get the ₦50,000.
NERSI is managed by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Beneficiaries are selected using the National Social Register and verified identity records. Payments go through approved providers, including OPay, Moniepoint, ALAT, MoMo PSB and NairaGram.
The government warns Nigerians not to pay anyone or share personal security details to access the grant through official channels only.
