The Abia State Ministry of Education officially announced the start of registration for the 2024/2025 Mandatory Central Promotion Examination (MCPE) for all Secondary School 2 students. This applies to both public and private schools across the state.
According to the latest notice by the ministry, concerned persons are to note the following:
1. Students will be tested in 14 subjects. English Language, Mathematics, Igbo Language, and Civic Education are compulsory.
2. Students are then expected to select from the remaining subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics, Government, CRK, Literature in English, Food & Nutrition, and Agricultural Science, to make a total of eight or nine subjects, depending on their school programme.
3. All schools are required to log in to the official education portal at www.abiaunifyportal.com.ng to register their students.
4. School login credentials can be obtained by contacting the ICT office at EDC via email at edcabiastate@gmail.com or through WhatsApp on 07035816625 or 09061814427.
5. Payments for the MCPE registration should be made using the school’s ABSSIN number for the ₦2,000 fee. A ₦500 cash payment must also be made at EDC for the purchase of scratch cards. Alternatively, schools can pay at any PAY DIRECT-enabled bank using EDC Agency Code: 17064001 and MCPE Code: 12040560.
7. The examination will take place from 14th to 25th July, 2025.
8. The exam will be supervised using the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) framework. Notably, marking will only be handled by certified teachers and subject specialists to ensure quality standards are met.
