May 27, 2025 – The newly established Federal College of Education (Technical), Keana in Nasarawa State has officially announced a nationwide massive staff recruitment and call for qualified candidates to apply for various academic and non-academic staff positions. This opportunity is a major boost for job seekers looking for federal government jobs in Nigeria’s education sector.

According to the college, positions are open in several schools and departments, including the School of Education, School of Secondary Education – Sciences, Vocational Education, and Technical Education. These include roles such as Chief Lecturer, Principal Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I to III, and Assistant Lecturer.

Some of the academic departments currently hiring include Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical/Electronic Technology, Business Education, and Home Economics. There are also vacant positions in General Studies, Educational Foundations, Educational Psychology, and Curriculum and Instruction.

The entry requirements vary depending on the level. For example, a Chief Lecturer must possess a doctorate degree with at least 12 years of teaching and research experience, be registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), and show proof of leadership in research or community service. Positions like Lecturer I and II require either a PhD or Master’s degree with several years of experience and publication in reputable academic journals.

Non-academic roles are also open in the Bursary and Registry Departments. Positions include Chief Accountant, Principal Accountant, Senior Accountant, and various administrative roles. For these, candidates must have at least a second-class honours degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields. Membership of professional accounting bodies like ICAN or ANAN is considered an added advantage.

Library staff recruitment is also ongoing for Librarian II, Librarian I, and Senior Librarian positions. Candidates are expected to have a Master’s in Library Science (MLS) with several years of work experience. Some roles also require registration with LRCN and NLA.

“This is an opportunity for qualified Nigerians to contribute to the growth of a new institution,” the statement read, signed by the Registrar, Dr. Muhammad J. Zakari.

In addition to the academic positions, the Registry Department has vacancies for Programme Analysts, Administrative Officers, Information Officers, and Legal/General Administration staff. These positions require relevant degrees and some level of experience in public service administration.

All applicants are expected to meet the specific requirements outlined for each position. Candidates with skills in teaching, academic publishing, and digital literacy stand a higher chance. These job openings are among the top federal government vacancies in the country and may attract thousands of applications.

Interested applicants are advised to prepare relevant documents, such as NYSC certificates, degree statements, and professional memberships, before applying.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to submit seven (7) copies of their applications along with their current Curriculum Vitae. The Curriculum Vitae should include, among other details, the following information: full name (with surname written last and in capital letters), the post applied for, place and date of birth, marital status, name, address and phone number of next of kin, number of children and their ages, nationality and state of origin, and local government of origin.

Applicants should also include their contact details such as mobile telephone numbers and email address, permanent home address, institutions attended with dates, academic and professional qualifications with dates, and detailed work experience including former and present posts held with corresponding dates. Present employment status and current salary must also be stated.

If available, a list of publications should be included. Applicants are also encouraged to state any extra-curricular activities and any other relevant information that may support a favourable review of their application. The names and addresses of three (3) relevant referees must also be provided.
