MDCN Announces New Housemanship Vacancies

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has officially announced that housemanship vacancies for federal hospitals will be updated on its portal by Wednesday, 23rd July, 2025.

This is an update for all Medical and Dental practitioners seeking housemanship positions under the centralized placement scheme.

A statement released by the council reads, “We are pleased to inform you that vacancies for housemanship placements in federal institutions will be updated on the MDCN portal on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025.

All interested applicants intending to serve in federal hospitals are encouraged to check the portal for available slots.”

Applicants who recently received their provisional registration certificates during the induction ceremony are advised to immediately create a profile on the MDCN Housemanship portal via www.housemanship.mdcn.gov.ng.

“This will grant you access to apply for housemanship positions at any of the 46 Federal training institutions nationwide, under the management of the MDCN,” the council explained.

Applicants have been warned not to submit application letters or contact federal hospitals or the MDCN directly.

“It is important to refrain from directly contacting or sending application letters to Federal institutions and to MDCN, either personally or through proxies (even parents), as this is considered a contravention under the Centralized Housemanship Placement System. Such actions may result in denial of access to the portal,” the council stated.

The update covers only the 46 federal hospitals approved for housemanship placement, and that each hospital has a fixed number of slots based on required training parameters.

If a chosen hospital does not appear on the list, it means there are no current vacancies there.

In addition to federal hospitals, 70 non-federal institutions are also available for housemanship. According to MDCN, “Applicants are advised to directly approach these institutions for further information on available opportunities.”

To verify the list of approved hospitals and understand how the centralized scheme works, applicants should visit the official MDCN pages.

She urged the public to ignore messages on WhatsApp and other social media platforms requesting money for help with shortlisting or accessing dashboards.

The Permanent Secretary further advised job seekers to remain cautious and stay informed. “Be vigilant and do not fall victim to these scams,” she warned.
