NRC Introduces Special Train Service for Sallah Holiday

June 4, 2025 – The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the addition of special train services to meet the rising travel demand. This update affects the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) and other major routes, offering better convenience for travelers during the festive season.

For Thursday, 5th June 2025, an extra trip has been added to the Lagos-Ibadan route. Departures from Lagos to Ibadan will now be at 8:00 AM, 1:55 PM (additional trip), and 4:00 PM. From Ibadan to Lagos, the trains will run at 8:00 AM, 11:03 AM (additional trip), and 4:46 PM—note that this last departure time has been slightly adjusted from 4:00 PM.

To accommodate Muslim faithful travelling for the Sallah holiday, the NRC has also introduced a Special Train Service on the Warri-Itakpe corridor for Thursday, 5th June 2025, a day usually reserved for track maintenance.

“Routine maintenance activities have been rescheduled to Sunday, June 8, 2025,” NRC stated.

The Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) will also continue as scheduled, with additional coaches provided for passenger comfort.
